Idaho Aerospace In Australia

VICTORIA, Australia (February 27, 2019) – The Idaho Aerospace Alliance

(IDAA) is exhibiting alongside the State of Idaho in Australia. With aerospace and manufacturing companies meeting at the AVALON airport this week (February 26 to March 3), the first days of the show have already proven to be an exciting start for the alliance and its exhibiting members.

“We expect that the connections we have made at AVALON in just the first day could result in excellent ROI for our company,” said Walter Johns, Director of Parts and Logistics for Western Aircraft, a Greenwich AeroGroup company and member of the IDAA. “We are also in discussions with another Idaho company for potential collaborations, which is another reason we enjoy participating in Idaho Pavilions internationally.”

The exposition is formally named the Australian International Aerospace and Defense Exposition. The show is more commonly referred to as The AVALON Airshow. It is the largest air show in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. As such, it represents a significant opportunity for many Idaho-based businesses.

“AVALON is an excellent opportunity for Idaho companies to build relationships with government, industry and defense colleagues…and gain international exposure,” said Idaho Commerce Director Tom Kealey.

The Idaho Department of Commerce is hosting eight (8) Idaho-based companies at their booth (3G10). Included in their exhibition is the IDAA.

The show is a biennial event, last held in 2017.  Then, it attracted over

210,000 participants and over 150 delegations.  These included military and aerospace industry personnel from 48 countries.

“The Idaho Aerospace Alliance looks forward to the opportunity to represent our members. Our Alliance has a lot to offer the aerospace industry; and the AVALON Airshow is a perfect opportunity for us to get in front of an international audience,” said Idaho Aerospace Alliance President Cheryl Adams. “We will make some great connections at the show.

The event will continue to strengthen the businesses within our Alliance.”

The Asia Pacific Region is experiencing significant growth in the defense and aviation sectors. Australia’s Department of Defense, alone, plans to invest up to $195 billion by 2026 (www.defence.gov.au/WhitePaper). The AVALON Airshow and the growth forecast for this region is an opportunity for Idaho industry.  The IDAA will build relationships in one of the fastest growing aerospace regions. Building strategic relationships in this region now help position the members for growth.

IDAA members provide many aerospace products and services.  The member companies range from manufacturing companies and part suppliers to service organizations.
